Sen. Lindsey Graham is dead.
As fictional President Jed Bartlett would say, “What’s next?”
Or maybe that should be “Who’s next?”
I know my money wasn’t on Graham shuffling off his mortal coil before a couple of other politicians, [cough, cough] Sen. McTurtle and the mango mussolini.

Graham’s legacy will always be measured by how he chose to serve the current occupant of the Gilded Oval Office rather than his South Carolina constituents or even the American people.
He will be likened to other closeted persons such as Roy Cohn, the man who helped shape the grifter-in-chief to become the Russian asset he is.
Besides being known as a war hawk and quickly reversing his opinion of what really happened on Jan. 6, Graham has done the LGBTQ community no favors over his decades in Washington.
He voted for the Defense of Marriage Act, which defined marriage as being between one woman and one man, voting years later against repealing the act.
Graham voted against “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” which forced gay service members to conceal their sexual orientation in order to stay in the military.
He also voted against the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which would have prohibited workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
When the Supreme Court ruled for marriage equality in Obergefell v. Hodges, Graham said he opposed same-sex marriage, calling himself a “proud defender of traditional marriage,” but offered that he would abide by the decision.
He certainly didn’t take advantage of Obergefell; Graham died a life-long bachelor.
While there are those offering up kind words for the likes of Lindsey Graham, there will be none here.
Speaking of Roy Cohn, who would have thought we’d be back to a 1950s way of thinking when the actual calendar says it’s 2026?
With the administration of president donald j. felon* pushing anti-civil rights, anti-women, anti-anyone-other-than-cis-white-male, anti-abortion, the mango mussolini
has been workshopping another derogatory name for anyone who is not squarely behind him kissing his tush.
No, we are beyond “dumocrats” at this point.
We’ve reached all the way back to the time of Sen. Joseph McCarthy who made it his business to call people he disagreed with “communists.”
Because he’s panicking over not getting control of state election processes, the adjudicated rapist and convicted felon is fully embracing calling not just Democratic socialists or progressives but pretty much any Democrat a “communist.”
He has mentioned communism 80+ times over the past couple of weeks, The Washington Post editorial board said, calling it a “mortal threat to American liberty” and “the greatest threat to our country.”
Again, projection much?
A Cato Institute survey found that 38 percent of Americans under 30 have a favorable view of communism, while 53 percent of Gen-Zers said they view socialism favorably.
“Yet the reality is that most Americans simply don’t believe that American socialists want to create a Stalinist or Maoist dictatorship,” the Post’s editorial board said.
The board concluded that suggesting that “portraying the Democratic Party as ‘hardcore, godless communists’ — as Trump and other senior Republicans have done ahead of November — is likely to be no more effective than Democrats’ efforts to brand Trump a fascist before the 2024 election.”
Though, I would say that as ICE continues to kill people in the streets branding president donald j. felon* a fascist before the midterms might become more effective this time around.
