What the hell is wrong with Texas?
I realize there’s not enough time in the day to answer that question — one I’ve been asking on a regular basis since I packed up and moved from the state many, many years ago.
Consider that the state’s Republican voters are just fine with sending someone to the United States Senate who is more unlikable than Ted “Cancun” Cruz.

Ken Paxton is so corrupt that his own party impeached him (the Senate failed to convict him on any of the charges). Over the years, he’s been indicted on felony securities fraud charges, reported by his deputies to the FBI for abusing his office to help a political donor and accused of having an extramarital affair.
He even gave a convicted child sexual abuser a deal that allowed the person to leave prison halfway through a 60-day sentence and not have to register as a sex offender.
Paxton is running for Senate against James Talarico, who currently represents part of Austin, Texas, in the state legislature.
Talarico is a deeply religious person who went viral fighting a bill that would put the Ten Commandments in every public school classroom in Texas.
He’s a former school teacher who is studying for a divinity degree.
In a sign that the right is ultra-concerned about the matchup between Paxton and Talarico, lapdogs of the president such as RNC chair Joe Gruters and Stephen “Temu Goebbels” Miller have come out early mocking Talarico.
Gruters called him a “creep” and accused him of being a vegan.
Talarico countered with, “I’ve been eating barbecue since before Ken Paxton’s first indictment.”
Miller assumed the shape of a 13-year-old boy to post “The Democrats made history in Texas by nominating their first transgender senate candidate.”
When the official Democratic “Twitter” account called Miller an “ugly f*ck,” Miller’s wife called that “the same violent political rhetoric that is leading people to shooting up the White House Correspondents Dinner or President Trump in Butler.”
Miller’s wifey needs to do a little research and find out the political leanings of the people behind those two events, and she should definitely check out what the convicted felon and adjudicated rapist has said and posted in the last couple of years.
But, alas, with someone like president donald j. felon* in the White House, this is what we get these days in political discourse.

The mango grudge holder is having the Justice Department investigate one of his victims.
Former magazine columnist E. Jean Carroll accused the president of sexual assault and defamation. He was found liable in both cases and was ordered to pay a total of $88 million. He has asked the Supreme Court to overturn one case and said he plans to do so in the second.
At issue, according to the DOJ, is whether Carroll committed perjury in connection with the suits she brought against the elderly golfer.
This is yet another example of demented donald going after people who have, in what’s left of him mind, wronged him.

Does anyone really think that shutting down international flights to large cities in blue states is a good strategy for any time and not just right before the midterms?
