It looks like the pushback is finally starting to take shape against President Elon Musk’s takeover of the United States government.
There were protests Tuesday by members of Congress, information was released about the Musk-associated team of 19- to 24-year-olds who are not government employees but who have access to the massive records in the Treasury Department and lawsuits are being filed.
A retired persons’ advocacy group and two AFL-CIO member unions filed a lawsuit Monday against the Treasury Department, according to Public Citizen.

The Alliance for Retired Americans, the American Federation of Government Employees and the Service Employees International Union, all represented by Public Citizen Litigation Group and State Democracy Defenders Fund, are suing Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the Treasury Department and the Bureau of the Fiscal Service to halt their “unlawful ongoing, systematic, and continuous disclosure of personal and financial information” to “Elon Musk and other members of the so-called ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ ” or any other person.
The plaintiff accuse Bessent, who as soon as he was sworn in gave Musk the keys to the Treasury, and the others of intruding on the private information of millions of Americans, the scale of which is “massive and unprecedented.”
Richard Fiesta, executive director of the Alliance for Retired Americans, said in a press release that his organization was “outraged and alarmed that the Trump Administration has allowed so-called DOGE staff to violate the law and access millions of older Americans’ sensitive personal financial date.”
“Seniors are already the most vulnerable Americans to fraud and scams, with FBI data showing losses of 43.4 billion in 2023 alone,” he said. “We urge the court to quickly act to stop this unlawful theft of our data.”
Below is a well-written thread about the ramifications of what Musk is doing and is being allowed to continue to do:
