How Much Longer Will We Have a Constitution?

By Michael Woyton

We don’t have to imagine a country where a woman in one state can receive safe, effective and legal reproductive health care but if she travels a couple of states away she may not be able to receive the same care.

The United States Supreme Court made that decision in 2022 and we are living in that country now.

Today, the Supreme Court seems to have cleared the way for that same woman — if she happens to have been born in the U.S. to parents who are not citizens — to find herself an American citizen in some states but not in others.

Subscribe to On Second Thought for free:

The court ruled 6-3 that the felon-in-chief’s executive order declaring that the children of parents who enter the U.S. illegally or on a temporary visa are not entitled to automatic citizenship could not be stayed nationwide by a single court’s ruling.

The court did not rule on the constitutionality of the order itself.

According to U.S. Attorney General Bondi, until SCOTUS makes a ruling on birthright citizenship, supposedly in October, she said, if someone, say, in Oregon gets a lower court ruling in his or her favor will it only apply in that one case. Anybody else wanting to make the same argument will have to do so in an entirely different case. No such thing as precedence.

If it was not clear before, it is undeniable now: the President, Congress, and Supreme Court no longer support and defend the Constitution.

50501 New York (@50501newyork.bsky.social) 2025-06-27T16:11:42.971Z

Justice Sonia Sotomayor in her dissent said that the court’s decision “is nothing less than an open invitation for the Government to bypass the Constitution.”

She explained that the executive branch “can now enforce policies that flout settled law and violate countless individuals’ constitutional rights, and the federal courts will be hamstrung to stop its actions fully.”

How could those unlawful actions be stopped? Sotomayor said that every person affected by the president’s actions would have to become party to a lawsuit in order to get relief. Fat chance.

Sotomayor wraps up her dissent by saying, “The rule of law is not a given in this Nation. It is a precept of our democracy that will endure only if those brave enough in every branch fight for its survival.”

She said the president, with a stroke of a pen, has made a “solemn mockery” of the Constitution.

The court, Sotomayor said, has chosen not to stand firm, but to give way — once again — to the president.

Obviously, this administration wants to usher in white supremacy — to begin with. After that takes hold, what is to prevent President Stephen Miller Felon from issuing a new executive order that declares all registered Democrats are no longer American citizens?

This is a monstrous court that has decided that it agrees with Stephen Miller that America is a nation by and for white people and everyone else is just a guest whose invite can be rescinded at their leisure

Adam Serwer (@adamserwer.bsky.social) 2025-06-27T14:27:30.891Z

Once SCOTUS decides that “all persons born or naturalized in the United States” are not necessarily “citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside” all bets are off.

My mind is reeling just thinking of the myriad subclasses of citizens at whom the hatred of this president and his sycophants could targeted.

Do we really want this white supremacist president, this Christian Nationalist Congress and this corrupt Supreme Court to hand pick who can and cannot be American citizens?

We are — literally — in the next midterm elections voting for the existence of this country.

Do we as voters choose to stand firm or give way?

How Much Do I Loathe Thee, Pam

Some things that are pissing me off today.

Man, if the administration of the felon-in-chief needs someone to be its face of obnoxiousness, I nominate Pam “Trump University Rocks” Bondi.

I don’t think “loathe” is a strong enough word to describe what I feel about her.

Next Clown Car to World War III

By Michael Woyton

While he was campaigning for his second term as president, didn’t the convicted felon say over and over that if Kamala Harris were elected she would start World War III?

In October, the now-grifter-in-chief used an Iranian missile attack on Israel to bash Vice President Harris and President Joe Biden as “grossly incompetent.”

He also said they were “leading us to the brink of World War III,” according to Politico.

Subscribe to On Second Thought for free:

Well, here we are. And not a Harris or a Biden in sight.

The mayor of Mar-a-Taco ignored the intelligence of his intelligence chief and pretty much said Iran had its fingers on the nuclear button.

Tulsi Gabbard, the director of National Intelligence, said in March that Iran had a stock of materials but wasn’t building any weapons.

She has now said — one could assume in an effort to delay being fired — that all that was taken out of context and she was indeed wrong, the BBC reported.

That sound you are likely hearing is her backup beeping sensor going off.

Her about face came after the mad king publicly said she was wrong and didn’t know what she was saying. Some intelligence, huh?

The adjudicated rapist was always quick to admit that he is the smartest person in the room. He knows more than the generals and he has never had much good to say about our country’s intelligence gatherers.

They can’t even get him to read the daily briefing, probably because the president thinks he already knows more than they do. Or can’t actually read.

He’s been jonesing to blow something up since he won back the Oval Office, and likely things got moved to the front burner after his pathetic little squeaky tank birthday parade. Humiliation will do that to a person.

The aftermath of bombing Iran will be what the aftermath will be, and I take no comfort knowing that people like SecDef Pete “WhiskeyLeaks” Hegseth, State Secretary Marco “99-0” Rubio and DNI Tulsi “She Knows Nothing” Gabbard are working behind the scenes.

It doesn’t help that Homeland Security Director Kristi “Dog Killer” Noem issued a National Terrorism Advisory Sunday warning of a “heightened threat environment” in the U.S. because of the strikes on Iran.

Obama Speaks in CT; Doesn’t Say Much

By Michael Woyton

Since President Donald J. Felon began his second swing at ruining running the country, a judge has been arrested, a Black mayor was arrested, a Black congresswoman was indicted, a Mexican-American senator was thrown to the floor after being forceable removed from a public press conference in a federal building and the chief financial officer of New York City who is Jewish was arrested.

And, of course, there was an assassination of a political leader in Minnesota and an attempted assassination.

Note that none of the above are Republicans.

Subscribe to On Second Thought for free:

We have a Congress with only Republicans in charge and a majority maga Supreme Court that are enamored with the grifter-in-chief and don’t seem to care that said grifter and his main henchman Stephen Miller are bit by bit taking over all three branches of government.

So it is a little bit disappointing that Barack Obama in an appearance in Connecticut with writer Heather Cox Richardson that the “country was ‘dangerously close‘ to allowing its government officials to act in a way ‘consistent with autocracies’,” according to the New York Times.

Unfortunately, audio and video recordings were prohibited at the event, so have to rely on news reports.

But the Times said Obama has made it clear he does not intend to become an opposition leader.

“His comments were unlikely to satisfy Democratic officials and voters who have grumbled about his reluctance to wade into contemporary politics, wanting him to offer more vocal and frequent criticism of the Trump administration,” the Times said.

Cox Richardson apparently did not press the former president “on the desires to some to see him more active or on his view of the limits of being an ex-president and member of a party struggling for a direction and new leadership,” according to reporting by CT Mirror.

The article said Obama barely touched on recent events, and he never said the name “Trump” during the 90-minute event.

Cox Richardson asked him what advice he would give young people to enable them to be optimistic about the future.

The 44th president said he was still the “hope guy” and added that change is a game of addition, not subtraction.

That means “you have to find ways to make common ground with people who don’t agree with you on everything but agree with on something,” he said.

That all sounds good on paper, but to my ears it falls short given the stakes and constant march toward completely losing our democracy.

Mueller wasn’t there to help us; Merrick Garland didn’t seem to care; Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries just are pathetic.

It would be so great if Democratic Party elected officials would start acting as if they’re living under a government that will lawlessly kill or arrest them for the crime of political opposition.

Max Berger ❌👑 (@maxberger.bsky.social) 2025-06-17T17:30:08.322Z

It seems we are truly on our own and it’s going to take more than a wink and a nod to our current predicament to do something about it.

Hopefully, momentum from the No Kings protests will continue through the summer and our voices will be heard.

Pres. Felon Wants to Reach Out and Touch You with New Phone

By Michael Woyton

And the grift — to no one’s surprise — continues.

The announcement that Trump Steaks, Trump University, Trump champagne and many other Trump others will soon be joined by a new scam endeavor — a smartphone — was made Monday.

The Trump Organization, owned by President Donald J. Felon, said it will be releasing a smartphone called the T1 in August, CNBC reported.

While the company said the phone will be “built in the United States,” experts said there is no way the gold-colored Android device that will retail for $499 was designed from scratch or will either be assembled in the states or completely manufactured domestically.

“That is completely impossible,” said Francisco Jeronimo, VP of International Data Corp.

He added that the phone will likely be produced by a Chinese original device manufacturer.

Protests Continue in Spite of Assassination of State Rep

By Michael Woyton

This country woke up Saturday to the horrific news that two elected officials of the state of Minnesota were shot, one of whom died and other, more than seriously injured.

We went to sleep Sunday knowing that a suspect was in custody.

In between, millions of people took to the streets in more than 2,000 communities across the nation to peacefully protest the growing dictatorship of President Donald J. Felon.

Included in those millions taking part in the No Kings protests were thousands of Minnesotans who gathered in downtown St. Paul for a march, in spite of the fact that state officials urged them to stay home due to the ongoing shelter-in-place order, CBS News reported.

Law enforcement was still searching for Vance Luther Boelter, 57, the man accused of killing state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband and trying to kill state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife.

The people of St. Paul and many others around the state were not deterred from making their voices heard on Saturday even though there were ongoing threats.

“Several attendees [in downtown St. Paul] told WCCO crews that they felt it was even more important to attend the rally, saying they didn’t want fear to win,” CBS News reported.

While Boelter is now in custody and has been charged on the state level with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree attempted murder and is expected to face federal murder charges, there is no decisive motive for his alleged actions.

He did, according to police, have a list of about 70 other potential targets including politicians, civic and business leaders and Planned Parenthood centers.

We do know now that Boelter was a born-again Christian, wanted to start a security firm and complained about Democratic politicians, the Washington Post reported.

Lifelong friend and roommate David Carlson said Boelter didn’t like former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and former President Joe Biden.

He was strongly against abortion rights, questioned people’s morals on sexual orientation and was a registered Republican, CNN reported.

Much was made on Saturday of the fact that Boelter was appointed by Walz to the Governor’s Workforce Development Board, which has more than 60 members and is an unpaid position with people from all political persuasions.

That led maga Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, to post photos of Boelter on the site formerly known as Twitter and call it “Nightmare on Waltz Street,” misspelling the governor’s last name. In another post, he tweeted “This is what happens When Marxists don’t get their way.”

This is a United States Senator mocking the assassination of a Minnesota legislator and her husband. He pretends to be a good Mormon. He’s a sick fuck.

Fred Wellman (@fpwellman.bsky.social) 2025-06-15T21:10:37.094Z

Those posts have since been deleted.

The grifter-in-chief, likely still smarting from a poorly attended $43 million birthday parade in Washington, D.C., told ABC News Sunday that he may or may not call Walz about the assassination of a state representative, according to Axios.

“Well, it’s a terrible thing. I think he’s a terrible governor,” he said on the news program. “I think he’s a grossly incompetent person. But I may, I may call him, I may call other people too.”

What a piece of excrement the president continues to show that he is.

Major ‘No Kings’ Protests Planned for Saturday

By Michael Woyton

While the mayor of MaraTaco is basking in contrived glory during his $43 million taxpayer funded love me fest military parade Saturday in the nation’s capital, there will be 2,000 or more protests taking place around the United States.

The mass peaceful protests, under the heading of “No Kings,” are set to counter what organizers said were the president’s “plans to feed his ego on his 79th birthday and Flag Day,” PBS News said.

It is now entirely possible that more people will be joining the protests because of recent events, such as the ongoing demonstrations against immigration raids around the country and the effort by the administration to silence California Sen. Alex Padilla  by forcibly removing him from a public press conference, throwing him to the floor and handcuffing him.

Subscribe to On Second Thought for free:

According to its website, “No Kings” is “a national day of action and mass mobilization in response to the increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration.”

Because protests purposefully will not be held in Washington, D.C., organizers hope to displace the military parade as the center of attention with “people coming together in communities across the country to reject strongman politics and corruption.”

In a pre-mobilization call Thursday evening, one of the organizers — Ezra Levin of Indivisible — said that there will be millions of people turning out around the country.

“Most importantly, we are showing up in force,” he said, “in defense of our country.

“There is nothing more impactful than showing up peacefully in your community,” Levin said. “We are pushing back. We don’t do kings in America.”

Florida Democratic Rep. Maxwell Frost said during the pre-mobilization call that, when he found out what had happened to Padilla, he had actually been told by Republican members of Congress that he was overreacting when he asked them what they would do if federal agents tried to arrest them.

“If this can happen to a U.S. senator, this can happen to anyone,” he said.

“That is why this weekend is so important,” Frost said. “It’s about protesting what is happening. This is about saying ‘hell no’ to all of it.”

Information about the “No Kings” protests, including where to find the one nearest to you, can be found through this link.

On the website, there are also training videos, artwork for rally signs, as well as information on your rights and how to safely protest.

Pres. TACO’s Approval Rating Still Underwater; Not Much Love for BBB

By Michael Woyton

What are the odds there’s a ketchup-free wall in the White House today with two major polls that showing there is not a whole lot of support for the policies of President TACO?

A Quinnipiac University National Poll released Wednesday found that a majority of registered voters oppose the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which threatens to make the national debt skyrocket while giving the uber-wealthy huge tax cuts.

Fifty-three percent of those surveyed are against the legislation, while 27 percent are fine with it. The remaining 20 percent had no opinion, Quinnipiac said.

Subscribe to On Second Thought for free:

Two-thirds of Republicans support the spending package, with 89 percent of Democrats and 57 percent of independents against it.

New Quinnipiac poll gauges national sentiment on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act: Two-thirds of registered voters have heard/read "a lot" or "some" about it. Support is 27%, opposition is 53%, and 20% had no opinion. Among independents it's 37 points under water.

Sahil Kapur (@sahilkapur.bsky.social) 2025-06-11T19:23:46.591Z

The Quinnipiac poll said almost half — 47 percent — of voters want Medicaid funding to increase and 40 percent think it should stay about where it is now. Only 10 percent think there’s too much funding for Medicaid.

Interestingly, a majority of Republicans — 57 percent — believe Medicaid funding should not be cut. A majority of Democrats and a plurality of independents believe funding for Medicaid should increase.

Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy said, with Medicaid’s future as a healthcare safety net suddenly uncertain, “voters make it clear they want the 60-year-old program for those in need to be handled with care.”

So what do the registered voters surveyed by Quinnipiac think of the man in charge? No, not Stephen Miller. The mayor of MaraTaco.

Only 38 percent of voters approve of how the president is handling his job, with 54 percent disapproving.

The approval is down from Quinnipiac’s April 9 poll, which was 41 percent.

Disapproval now is 54 percent, which is up from 53 percent in April.

The poll asked about the felon’s handling of seven issues: immigration, deportations, the economy, trade, universities, Israel and Russia.

The grifter-in-chief’s approval ratings on all of them range from 34 percent for Ukraine to 43 percent on immigration. Disapprovals range from 52 percent on Israel to 57 percent on Ukraine and trade.

Both Robert Kennedy Jr. and Pete Hegseth, secretaries of Health and Human Services and Defense, respectively, both hold underwater approval ratings, Quinnipiac said.

Only 38 percent of voters approve of RFK Jr.’s job performance, with 53 percent disapproving. In a March 13 poll, it was 38 percent to 49 percent.

For Hegseth, 37 percent are fine with the way he’s doing his job, while 46 percent disapprove.

You can dig into all the Quinnipiac polling data through this link.

Released Thursday, the AP-NORC poll surveyed American adults and found that 60 percent of them feel that having a military parade on the president’s birthday is not a good use of government funds.

Democrats and independents overwhelmingly disapproved — 80 percent and 72 percent, respectively — with a hair less than two-thirds of Republicans approving — 65 percent.

When asked by AP-NORC if they approved or disapproved of the president’s decision to hold a military parade, only 40 percent approved, while 29 percent disapproved. Thirty-one percent neither approved nor disapproved.

Only 39 percent of Americans, according to the poll, approve of the president’s job performance. Sixty percent disapproved.

The golfer-in-chief did not receive a majority of Americans’ approval for his handling of immigration, the economy, trade negotiations or climate change, according to AP-NORC.

More information on the AP-NORC poll can be found through this link.

Both polls were conducted between June 5-9.

Pres. TACO’s Lust for Violence Continues

By Michael Woyton

To recap: A mayor was arrested and eventually released. A congresswoman was indicted on three felonies. The  president said a governor should be arrested, while the House speaker said the governor should merely be tarred and feathered. All of that was related to the out-of-control push for more immigrant roundups.

President TACO also said that anyone who protests his $43 million military parade/birthday party will be met with “heavy force.”

Well folks, there’s really no question that President Donald J. Felon is lusting for more violence and is doing everything he and his sycophantic minions can do to stoke that violence.

Subscribe to On Second Thought for free:

Since Friday when immigration raids began in the Los Angeles area, people have been taking to the streets — peacefully, for the most part — to voice their concerns over the kidnappings of their friends and neighbors.

White House adviser Temu Goebbels Stephen “Hater” Miller appears to have lit the fuse on the situation in Los Angeles, after telling ICE officials to “just go out there and arrest illegal aliens.”

Frustrated that the 3,000 immigrant quota wasn’t being met, Miller, it was reported, told ICE to go to Home Depot parking lots and 7-Elevens. Obviously, that’s where all the “criminal” immigrants hang out.

And we are seeing what happens when you tell a bunch of masked, armed thugs, dressed in whatever they had lying around, i.e. not uniforms, and carrying no visible identification, that you are really really disappointed in them.

Was Los Angeles targeted by Miller because he wasn’t well liked growing up in southern California, or was it because he thought it would be easy to make an example of a state — and its governor — that didn’t vote for the adjudicated rapist?

Maybe we’ll eventually find out the truth.

But until then it’s important to spread the word that much if not all of what is coming out of the mouths of this administration are lies.

For example, the draft dodger who will be cosplaying commander-in-chief Saturday while military tanks and equipment tear up the streets of Washington, D.C., gave a partisan speech Tuesday to troops at Fort Bragg filled with falsehoods.

According to The Guardian, the lies included claims that protesters waving flags of Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador were part of a foreign invasion.

He also referenced a conspiracy theory that pallets of bricks were distributed so protesters could throw them at police officers and one that Gov. Gavin Newson and Mayor Karen Bass have paid “troublemakers, agitators and insurrectionists” to riot.

The grifter-in-chief said, while sitting in the Oval Office, that without his sending in the National Guard Los Angeles “would be burning to the ground.”
